This page describes how Steam Powered Mining Co. ("we", "us") handles information when you play the game at steampoweredmining.app. This page is maintained by the app owner and is not an independent legal review; consult counsel for advice specific to your situation.

What we collect

  • Account data (optional): if you sign in, we store your email address and a display name you choose.
  • Game progress: coins, upgrades, mine depth, brass coins, and related state, tied to your account so you can play across devices.
  • Leaderboard & chat: your display name, submitted score, and chat messages are visible to other signed-in players.
  • Purchase data: if you buy a coin bundle or Steam Portal, Stripe processes the payment. We receive a purchase confirmation and never see your card details.
  • Technical logs: standard request metadata (IP, user agent, timestamps) used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnostics.

How we use it

  • Provide the game, save your progress, sync between devices, and fulfill purchases.
  • Rank the leaderboard and validate scores server-side to prevent cheating.
  • Moderate chat, enforce the profanity filter, and act on abuse reports.
  • Ship real-world rewards you redeem with Brass Coins in the Curator's Shop (only when you provide a shipping address for a redemption).

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with service providers who help us run the app: our hosting/backend provider (database, auth, storage), Stripe (payments), and the email provider used for account emails. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

Cookies & local storage

We use local storage in your browser to remember settings (mute state, whether you've seen the intro) and to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. The in-game "sponsor" ads shown are house ads served directly by us.

Your choices

  • You can play as a guest without an account (progress stays on your device).
  • You can request account deletion or a copy of your data by emailing us.
  • You can clear browser storage to erase local game state.

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.
